Government is being: involved, understanding the issues that impact our community, and having empathy for our fellow citizens and community needs. City Government is about “we” the citizens. City Council is about representing a diverse base of citizen needs and viewpoints, while ensuring fairness, common sense without bias or emotion. Council has to balance the needs/desires of the residents and what is legislatively mandated. The city beach access is a resource that is a credit to our early founders for their vision and forethought. The city needs to continue its engagements with beach councils and the state legislature, while ensuring that the needs of the community are prioritized and escalated.
