Tarpon Springs operates under a Council-Manager form of government. Under this form of government the Council, or Commission, provides legislative direction while the City Manager is responsible for day-to-day administrative operations of the city. The Tarpon Springs Board of Commissioners consists of four commissioners and the mayor, all of whom are elected on a city-wide basis. The commission is responsible for the adoption of the annual budget, the appropriation of funds, and the passage of ordinances and resolutions necessary for the responsible administration of the City. City Commissioners are limited to two terms.
